Autometer to T-56 (speedo)

Ok so I made a new guage cluster for my car with all autometer phantom guages. I also have a T-56. I have one wire that comes from the guage and there seems to be a 2 pin connector for the speddo sensor in the tranny, what to I do now?

Do I find a connector and put it on the end of that wire that is coming from the guage and then ground the other terminal coming from the tranny?

Just an idea I have no idea how those connectors work....please fill me in

Thanks

-Dennis

you can get the connector from ur local gm dealer, its about $20. it comes with a pigtail. ground 1 wire, run the other to the signal input on the gauge. i just did the same thing, but i used pro comp ultralites. post a pic so we can see how it came out.

ummm...you do relize that the T-56 sending unit is a 40,000 ppm unit, and the stock 3rd gen sending unit is 4,000 ppm, and MOST aftermarket gauges are 8,000 ppm AC, you will probably need a signal converter, Dakota Digital makes one, the SGI-5, it's $85 from summit and $79 from the manufacture.(still trying to figure that one out)

OK so does anyone know about this ppm stuff? The first guy said it is all very easy and the next post def complicated things. So which is it? Automoeter's are very very popular, so someone must know what the ppm of them is? I would assume it is some sort of standard since they are the most popular guage by far.

you might want to call autometer and ask the mak ppm that there gauage will accept, I coulden't find it on there website, but I doubt that it will go as high as the 40,000 ppm that the factory sending unit is

The programable electric autometer's will do a t56 no problem . Its all the stock stuff you have to worry about, ecm, cruise and stock speedo, thats where you need the SGI-5.

the autometer gauge will convert almost any signal that ur tranny will output. to calibrate it, u just put it in calibrate mode and drive a known 2 mile stretch, stop and hit the button. it should read right on. the instructions that camwe with the meter will be more specific. that meter will work with the t56
