2nd gear grind
ok i know it isnt a thirdgen but my firnd just got a twin turbo dodge strealth.. 95... he hadf it for liek 3 weeks then i was in the car he went to do a good 1-2 shifty and it ground into gear... ground everytime after that... anybody got any idea what it could be? if it was a syncro did just the shift do it or was it kinda like a time bomb goin off and it happened to happen right then?

Im not a big brainer when it comes to the sticks but my guess would be a synchro gone.

Yea, that sounds like a bad synchro to me. A couple of my gears do that from time to time. I don't know how much you know about synchros, but basically, a synchro is made of a hub and a sleeve. The sleeve slides across the hub and the sleeve is what engages the next gear. It gets a little more complicated, but there are a few other parts to the synchro that help the sleeve slide onto the next gear smoothly. When the synchro's bad it cant engage the gear easily so there's clashing as you are now forcing it into gear. Not sure about his transmission, but I think rebuild kits for T-5's run about $400. That includes new synchros, bearings, locking pins, and such.
