Dipstick tube is ticking me off.
I had the tranny rebuilt some months ago, and I have been unable to get the dipstick tube bolted back to the tranny.. So it is just sitting in there, and I am sure it is causing the leak on my garage floor.
Anyone have any tricks as to how I can get this bolted up properly?? Seems like the hole is just millimeters off...

my dipstick got bent, therefore it wouldn't seal.
I would take it out, make sure the tube and the bracket that bolts to the bellhousing are straight.
Still have the gromment on the end of the tube? I had to cake mine in RTV, and it still leaks a lil. Oh well....

I usually cut the tab off mine... Not that I'd reccomend it, but it works, just need to make sure you hold the tube when you pull the stick out

no rtv!!!!!
go to the nearest gm dealer and get one from parts.
they are like 2-3 dollars if I am not mistaken.
HINT you can haggle the price on a part just have the parts guy do a little work ask some questions but leave price to the end. when he gives you a price say "can you do a little better for me because I can get the same part online for a little less but I like this dealership and would like to keep my business right here"
He will say NO thats the best I can do!(its a programmed response)
You say come on I am not looking for a lot. start him out around 20-25 percent and see what he says.

Make sure the tube is seated all the way into the grommet and that the grommet isnt damaged. If need be, rotate the tube a little if the bolt hole doesnt line up. If you do have to reinstall the dipstick tube, smear a little vasiline around the base of the tube so it doenst bind up when you put it in.
