I think you mean doesn't fit it. The Camaro rear is unique to Camaros and Firebirds. Any other rear is going to require fabrication to fit in the car.

I just installed a 12 bolt out of a 1970 chevelle fabricated all the brakets it was a lot of work but the length is corect (aprox. 1/4 inch shorter) but I saved about $1200 over an aftermarket rear!

Yes, but it's 3" wider, meaning that without 4th gen backspacing on your wheels the tires will stick past the wheel lips by 1.5" per side. Rather ugly and illegal in many states. Plus, what's the real advantage? The 4th gen rear isn't any stronger than a good 3rd gen rear (one with 28 spline axels).

If you want strength you want a bolt in 12-bolt or 9". Alternately you could upgrade your exisitng rear (assuming it's a 7.5 or 7.625" 10-bolt) with better gears, a limited slip, and better axels.

I'd take it. 9-bolts are tough rears nd hard to find, especially if it's got discs. Parts are harder to come by, but Randy's has gears and bearings.
