Had 700R4 rebuilt....its crazy!!!
Yea so im pretty late as this was done a while ago but I wanted to make a thread about it anyway since im home sick...
Tranny went out about a month after buying car end of last year...lost 3-4
Found a guy on ebay selling transmissions for like 20yrs that happened to be local and he does fleet operations. He works on the local sheriffs office cars and my father works there so we gotta nice discount.
dont have the whole list of specs but some things included were:
sunshell beast
superior clutch pack
500boost valve
corvette servo
master rebuild kit
and many other small parts here and there
new stock converter too
my out the door price was $670 bucks with an 18 month warrenty...a friend went to him just last week and was quoted 950 without the 18month warrenty or converter....
I feel I did pretty damn good price wise, the guy was trustworthy and he does alotta they trannys
So where did I go wrong........uninstalling the old one and installing the new one...OMG what a PITA....had to rig up jacks with 2x4's to stand it up and lifting a tranny with minimal clearince is crazy hard...never gonna do it again
1-2 shift is rock hard---2-3 shift spins tires----3-4 is very smooth
love the tranny....now to get the damn speedo workin
