Stock T5(WC) and getting nervous

390 RWHP ran all last year at the track (and street) with no probs. Ran full race slicks and managed a best 60' of 1.50. I began power shifting for the last half of the season and the T5 has held up very well.

However. . .this year I'm adding a 250 shot and I'm worried that with that I might end up leaving my T5 all over the track.

Just kinda wondering what's the most any of you have gotten away with running a stock T5. Because I think I might be in for some breakage.

Being nervous doesn't break parts and it doesn't help them last either. Have a backup. You're going to need it.

Are you kidding, you exceeded the safe power level of that transmission about 150 horsepower ago. Seriously. The engineers who rated the WC T5 for what, 285 ft lbs torque? Didn't just make that number up. I have a WC T5 I personally rebuilt and I can tell you the internals are very light duty. I can't believe your T5 has lasted as long as it has. Lots of guys with very low hp setups still blow them up every day. I would worry about losing my arm when that T5 sends the main shaft and everything on it through your floor. Seriously.

Car: projects.......
...my first one left the car in about 3 pieces.... I actually pulled it out w/o unbolting it from the bellhousing.... - on that note, I was cutting 1.6X 60fts consistently and it was my daily driver. I never broke on in low gear(3 wc's broken total) broke 'em all in 3rd, under power, NOT during shift. Especially with the stock helical gears(which try to push apart), the stock main shaft will give enough to allow the gears to go pop...actually its more of a BOOMckrakkkclunkclunkclunk...etc! I was very hard on it, and I knew it would break, but I had 'em and they're not really worth anything. I launch at around 5k, side-step the clutch, and straight power shift, no clutch, no lift, no mercy. Like I said, the first one exploded the whole case.(had a little hottie in the car....oh yeah, she was IMPRESSED...)
- point being, you're already past it, so you're running on borrow time. Look into a decent modified T56, they'll take way more than you're putting down.
