Trans Temperature?
Hi guys, im wondering what the average good running 700R4 runs at temperature range? I just hooked up a trans temp gauge after running about 5 miles says im running 250+ degrees and i dont think thats right? This morning when i went to work when i started it up said it was like 110-115 degrees? So what gives? Bad ground? What can cause such an off temperature? I just sanded down the ground hook-up and im still showing 210+ after the car has been sitting for 3 hours+? Power is power and the signal wire cant really give a false reading correct?
Thanks

No, that doesn't sound right.
A good trans temp would be 180 or 190, somewhere in there. Anything beyond 220 is asking for trouble.
If the trans works right and isn't burning the fluid, the gauge readings are wrong.
You can check the gauge by putting the sender in some boiling water. It should indicate 212ish depending on your altitude and water purity. It should show about room temp, 70-75 or so, when just sitting around in your living room.
If it doesn't show those 2 easily verified temps correctly, it's fornicated.

Well instead of me testing the sender autometer is sending me a new one. Apparently with the model i got a lot of people have been having problems with innaccurate temperature reading.
Thanks!
