maybe someone here can help me, i have a 89 Firebird GTA and im looking to order a new rear axle for the right side cause mine is all fubard, anyone know if its 9 or 10 bolt stock?

 

should be a 9-bolt, but could be either.
- dude, count the bolts on the rear-end cover. That'd take less time than posting a question that no-one can answer w/o seeing(counting) it themselves.

 

I'd recommend pulling it out and taking it to a JY to get a used replacement. If it's 10-bolt you'll need to make sure the spline count is right (26 or 28). If you can pull the axle without opening the cover, it's a nine bolt and replacement axles may be harder to find.

 

sorry if my question sounded stupid to you, but im just learning rears at the moment. turns out it is a 9 bolt, been looking around for like 4 hours and still can't find somebody with one. figures... anybody have any reccomendations for places to try?

 

9 bolts are stronger but definitely harder to find parts for. There's a guy on here trying to sell a unit, Red92RS maybe?
