Converting quarter stick from 3 to 4 speed
I've got a pistol grip quarter stick in the wifes car....and the bugger was expensive as all get out. Now I'm throwing in a 700-r4 to replace the TH350 and need to do something about the shifter. All I got from Hurst was a...no can't do that. My question is, have you guys had any luck getting replacement parts through hurst? Would they sell me the bulk of the shifter mechanism without the shifter handle and cable? I figure I could save a lot of money if I just swaped over the billet shifter arm to a 4-speed shifter mechanism.
I may consider building my own detent plate, but the wifey doesn't want me welding and grinding on her 250$ shifter. I did this with my factory monte shifter and believe it or not it worked pretty well. I just added another step to the detent plate.
I doubt anyone has done this....this post is more of a last ditch effort not to spend another 240$ on another shifter.
