OK I have got everything together for the t56 swap but the master and slave cylinder. Now on the fire wall, under the brake booster where the mastercylinder goes through is not flat. I have a hump on the outside and inside of the firewall. Is this normal? From most of the pix I found its flat where you cut through for the cylinder....Any help or pix would be greatly appreciated.

I had a 700r4 in there to begin with.

Have a picture? My firewall (and every other firewall I've seen) is flat there. There is an indentation thing where the buster its self mounts but the master for the clutch doesn't mount there. If you post a picture I will circle the rough area that the thing installs in.

Looks like some "custom" body work to me.... maybe collision-induced.... the car sure didn't come from the factory like that.

Thats what I thought too but the curves and humps are factory. there not bent in or beat. Maybe out of a different car???
Does the master cylinder have to b e flush or as long as it is even and completely against that hump, because it will fit and the bracket inside has enough room.

Your possible problems are these:
1 – from the pictures it looks like the ripple or whatever you want to call it sticks out from the firewall. This means that the master will be mounted away from the firewall, which will take away possible pedal travel and might lead to possible disengagement issues. Then again, my clutch catches at the very top of the pedal (about 1/2" from being all the way up) so you might be fine.
2 – the master cylinder installs at a specific angle so that you’re pushing the rod into the cylinder when you hit the pedal, not at the cylinder (ie you want it to push the rod straight into the cylinder and not be misaligned). This might also pose a problem.
3 – you’re going to most likely have a gap around the MC on the firewall. This is the easy part – fill it with RVT and forget about it.

I would drill the holes anyway and try it out. Worst comes to worse you cut out a section of the firewall and weld in a flat piece if it doesn’t work right.

Any chance of getting a picture a little further away so that I can see a little bit more of the engine bay? That firewall looks really weird to me.

Here you go. Thats exactly what I was gonna do. I mean I have to everything is already in except this so no turnin back. I just cant imagine its a different fire wall then what it came with. everthing hooks up and is mounted just like every other third gen I have seen ecxept the shape???

I've got no idea. It looks factory. Maybe start a thread over on the history board titled 'weird firewall' or something along those lines and see what people think. If you do that be sure to link me to it because I'm curious now. I didn't take any pictures of my master installed with the booster off sadly so I can’t post anything for a comparison

Well the cylinder is in and everything lines up but its about an inch and a half to far back. When I hook it up to the pedal its already half way compresed. I dont know what to do know??
