3.23 gears
my 84' bird has a 2.8l and was thinkin about putting in a 305, would it fry out the gears?

No, if anything it would be a better ratio for some get up and go. You have the same rear end that is in V8 cars, just a better (for perfomance) ratio (Man, I'm going all out with your questions tonight, eh?) haha
