t56 question...
For you that have done the swap, what will happen if the dakota digital box for the vms is not in and you drive it? I just did an engine and tranny swap but I have not put the box in yet. I drove around the block and Im getting alot of surging from the cam, I think. I dont know if the dakota box will make the car act like that too.
Thanks

the box is for the electronic signal for the computer, i.e., no computer no need to have a signal. Since the T56 has an electronic output speed signal, the only problem I can see is the speedo won't work for now.

I do have the computer but if it just jacks up the speedo then I will get the digital box later. I just didnt know if it might cause the car to run like $hit.
Your down in SA? My cousin lives down there off Judson street. I get down there every now and then. Any good speed shops there?

Car: Depends on what day it is..
Engine: Um, Chevy small-block
Transmission: One that shifts
Axle/Gears: Got those too...
Chances are the ECM will eventually through a VSS trouble code. Obviously, it will not know vehicle speed, which might cause it to act a bit quirky, even though it will know engine load (MAP or MAF) and throttle position. That may be why the car is acting funny...

True, the computer needs the vss input for proper calibration.
What a spooky coincidence, I live off of Judson too!
