Engine is a 350 HO, transmission is a turbo 350, both with about 1800 miles on them.
I really know nothing about shift kits, just that they improve the firmness of a tranny, which is something I really want. The car will be a total street machine, very little if ever track time, and it has to be drivable on the street. No half throttle lurches from a super hard shift. That said, from what ive gathered in a search, a Transgo is the way to go?
And from what I said, how many, plates or whatevrer they are? Basicly, suggerst a kit, and how many plate things to install, as I know very little on this topic.. thanks.

First try a new vacuum modulator. If you get a red stripe modulator it will allow major adjustments over any other type. Screw it clockwise for later harder shifts and counter clockwise for softer sooner shifts. If you screw it in all the way it will bang every gear just like a shift kit without the hassle or expense. Just go to any parts store and open boxes until you find it. Checker usually stocks a B&M one but you can find a fram cheaper if they are willing to open a few boxes or look under a BB chevell. The Nappa number is # ATP 17499.
