I am getting ready to have my transmission rebuilt and figured while i was at it i'd put a higher stall converter. I have an 84 firebird with a slightly modded 305. I want between 2000 and 2500 stall. What would be my best option since i'm on a pretty tight budget?

 

700r4? - budget stall converter... Torco, PATC(raptor trans) thats about it for a good cenverter on a budget. $300ish should get you decent-good converter. Vigilante and Yank are supposedly the best for 700r's, but $800...
- hit the search key. Many people have used/tried several brands on this board. Searching will find you moer than anyone will ever post again...

- if the trans went/needed the freshen-up, don't put the old converter in anything but the garbage can.
