What is the weak link in the 10 bolt rear?
I'm building a stroker motor for my car. Looking into a pro-built trans, aluminum DS,and 373's. Gonna probably have to use a stall speed. . What is the most common failure in these rears? with aftermarket parts can the rear be rebuilt to handle high 3 low 400 rwhp consistently? Am I just wasting my time. I wanted to keep the rear because of the rear disc that came in the car.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
The case, the gears, the carriers, the axles .... other than those few things, they're strong as an ox.
Seriously, HP isn't what kills them. Shock loading with traction is. If you don't get traction, then it'll live a pretty long time.

I think you're pushing the limits with your power area. But yea, if you don't use a transbrake, slicks, that sorta thing, it'll live longer.
solid pinion spacer keeps the pinion from walking up the ring gear. Probably one of the single best strength addons
superior (sp?) axles are good
an aluminum girdle helps a lot too
welding the tubes, but personally I think that's mostly 'cuz it's easy to do, I don't think it'll beef it up much. Same with a zytanium cross pin.

87_TA is running 10's on a modded 10-bolt. I'm running 11's in a car that cuts 1.6X 60fts and weighs 4001 lbs. - That's side stepping a clutch at over 5k. - The weak link is the case itself. If the case flexes it allows the r&p to push away from each other. If it contiously flexex, your gears end up with missing teeth... - check this post for more info:

Btw - You don't have to give up your stock rear discs. . .I still have mine.
