lock up help

Ok i know this has been beaten to death on here and i did search but i still need some help.

i went to carb on my car and tossed the computer and harnesses and now i need the trans to lock up, so from what i gathered on here is i ran the purple wire from the trans connector to a 12 volt switch power and the tan/black to a switch and then added another wire from the switch to a ground.

i took the car out and flipped the switch when i was cruiseing in fourth and felt nothing. i played with the switch flipping it on and off driving stopping everything and felt nada. i read on here that the car would bogg down or the rpms would drop some if it was working.

also this is the 2nd trans i put in and i tried it with the first trans and nada same with the 2nd trans nada

do i have this think hooked up right?

i plan on getting the painless lock up kit but i was looking for something to work for now.

thanks

If the lockup is functioning you will see a few hundred RPM decrease at cruise and it will stall the motor if you stop with it locked.

The original harness in my car had a single green wire...
