Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
You have to look at your torque arm and see. It's about impossible to guess. The torque arm is stamped into a sort of "W" shape where it fits in; some the tips of the "W" are pointed toward the trans, and some are pointed away. You just have to look and get the one that matches whatever your car has.

A word of warning: if you don't look and instead somehow get convinced that it's one kind or the other ("My friends' cars all had theirs pointing one way, so mine must point that way" or "it's a 85 car and so-and-so's 85 it pointed this way"), then whichever one you buy, your torque arm will know, and it will adjust its "W" to point the opposite way. Don't ask me how they know, because I have no idea; maybe they belong to the same union or something, or have some kind of IM hookup. But trust me, whichever one you buy, if you don't look first, it WILL be the wrong one.
