deep pans

when you put a shift kit in, and raise the pressure of the regular, when is it necessory to get a deeper pan

a deeper pan is added simply for more fluid. More fluid allows for better heat disipation, lowering trans temps.
Needing a deeper pan isn't because of a shift kit.

The deeper pan is for extra cooling capacity from the extra fluid.

Im not too sure if you would want to go with a deep pan, might end up dragging it on a speedbump or something!

Maybe someone here runs one and can fill you in on what clearance is like...
