govener reweight question
after rebuilding my trans with a shift kit, the car will shift too early (around 3500 - 4000rpm) the local trans guy said to put a sinker weight on the end of the detent cable, but i dont think that the cable is stretched since the car has low mileage. the cable does however pull allmost the whole way through the detent cable adjuster. I heard somewhere that since the shift kit has more line pressure that i need to reweight the govener to get it to shift right. Any insight?
If you have the TV cable set to where it is tight at WOT, and the shifts are still low at WOT, then you need a lighter weight governor to get the shifts at WOT higher. You can by the weights kit from B&M and do the changes to get the shifts at the rpm you want at WOT. It will take some work, but it can be done.
