Car: 1985 Iroc Z
Engine: 383 carbed
Transmission: Th 400 tci super street
Axle/Gears: 3:42 9 Bolt
Super T 10 Vs T56

with gas millage not a concern all im looking for is a cheap manaul to hold my 383 which one is a better alternative.. also which one is lighter? my car is on serious diet

Both are pretty tough customers. The Super T10 is pretty much equivalent in strength to the Muncie 4 speeds. As far as weight, the Super T10 probably wins that one hands down.

...if it's only the equivalent of a Muncie, I'd stay away from it. I used to split my "rockcrasher" apart almost ever week-end. - The cluster shaft would dent the trans tunnel any time it wheel hopped going into 2nd)
- I'm sure the T10 is lighter than a T56. -
If fuel economy doesn't matter, why not find an old chrysler crash box(18 or 23 spline) and buy the modded input shaft? Atleast then you could abuse the dog sh** out of it and not worry. Plus you can grind every other tooth out of the sliders on them and they'll slick shift no problems.(18 spline was the "muncie fix" in my bbc 69camaro)

I guess the question here would be the bellhousing. If you're making any decent power you shouldn't be running a stock bell anyhow, and mounting would be no-problems with a steel can.
