T5 vs Auto

Hey, guys, how've ya been? ok, i built a decent little motor for my 86 firebird. the engine makes 272 rwhp and 309 rwtq, and the auto that i have works wonderfully... my question is this: can the T5 handle that kind of torque? i have a friend that sold me the entire T5 setup out of an 87 z28 for a couple hundred bucks, but i've held off on swapping it in because I'm afraid of shredding the 5 speed. any info would be greatly appreciated, oh gurus of transmission wisdom

it should be just fine to handle that power, just don't be doing clutch drops and what not. the "shock" will destroy the tranny for sure. even on a stock motor.
