4l60e help please

I have been building my car for almost two years now and just took it for a ride. It drove fine untill I put it into reverse and nothing! I can feel it engage just so slightly, but it does not move. I got the tranny (4l60e) with the engine out of a totaled 95 Z28 that was rear ended. The guys at the yard said everything was fine when I bought it. So I put a trans go shift kit in it (double checking every step) and a 3400 stall. I disconnected the shift linkage at the tranny and started the car and shifted in to reverse by hand, and still no reverse.

Is this a junk tranny, or could I have messed somthing up with the trans go shift kit?

Thanks

"The guys at the yard said everything was fine when I bought it." First of all, every junkyard says "that it worked fine". How would they know??????? Second, the 1993-1995 units have had problems with the low/reverse circuit, and it causes premature wear of these clutches. If the clutches are still good, then the Trans-Go Performance Shift kit can fix this, but I do not think this will help from your description of your problem. I hate to be a bearer of bad news, but if it is good, why is it in the junkyard, to begin with? now if the vehicle is rear ended, there is a good possibilty that the transmission is ruined because of this. It takes on the average 3 transmissions from the junkyard, to get a decent one, and this is from past experience from other people who have done this.

- probably didn't have reverse before it got hit, and how would the j/y guys konw whether or not it was good? Unless they were the previous owner, they have no way of konwing.

I fixed it, a tech guy at trans go said that that was the most common problem after there shift kit is put in a 4l60e. He told me that the boost valve probably was not seated all the way and it fell out. He told me to drop the pan and see if the valve and springs were in the pan. And if they were not then the tranny was junk. so I dropped the pan and there it was. I put it in right this time and the tranny feels solid as hell.
