Input shaft length can be accounted for with an extended pilot bushing from McLeod.Do a search as this has been covered and it can be done. The LS1 T56 can be bolted to a Gen1 SB,I have done it myself as well as TwilighTropics (spelling?).I have done it with my T10 mechanical linkage car,TT with a hydraulic T5 car IIRC.
I run a Lakewood Scattershield with the McLeod adapter plate.Only major problem I came across was I had to make my own crossmember as I didn't wanna pay for an aftermarket unit and made it much cheaper.
