BW 9 bolt.
I just bought a new original GM gasket (12523445) for my 9 bolt BW posi rear.
I noticed this gasket has a red colored side and a black side.
I remember to use liquid gasket on one of the side's of this gasket, but it's a long time ago I did this job, can anyone help me out?
Thanks from the Netherlands!

The red seal is the left side, the black seal is the right side. I think you may want to put some extra sealing on the left one. My seal is leaking on the left side and I'm replacing it this weekend while replacing my bent axle retainer plate. The red seal is the one with the metal outter rim and I remembered someone in this forum suggest to strip the red paint to make it seal better.
Good luck!

I could be mistaken, but I believe he/she is referring to the rear cover gasket, not the seals. And I'm sorry but I don't know which side the goo goes on. I don't think it matters, but wait for the advice of someone who knows for sure. I came across a tech link for GM axles that may be helpful. The 9-bolt is refferred to as the "model 78" in this link. Hope this helps.
