tranny problem help please!

could anybody help me.....i have a 89 formula 350 with 700r4 tranny. i havent done a thing to the tranny no shift kit nothing....but it is rebuilt....twice actually anyways....when i first got the car it shifted from first when cruising at around 1700ish rpms a smooth shift now its shifting at 2500 and if i try to manumatic it it wont shift into a higher gear...another problem with it is that when i raced it before i put it in drive and powerbrake to 1200 rpms dumped the brake and floored it. worked well......well i tried doing that again and it is shifting at 3000rpms when i floor it....missing 1500 rpms of power.....whats wong with it and how can i fix it?

Check the adjustment of your detent cable(do a search, it's been posted many times). If it's correct, then drop the pan and check to see if the detent valve is sliding properly.
- Pull the governor, remove the gear(make sure it's in good shape) and pull the "apple core" and clean everything thoroughly.

Well if it is the detent cable you should tet it fixed. You can burn up a trany if it issent set right. A shift kit should make the clutches last longer because there isent as much slipping between shifts.
