got a lot of quotes from places and aamco seems to be the best bang for the buck for my 700r4 tranny rebuild
i have also looked at a thread here concerning aamco and its quality...
the owner of the one in town seems to be a genuine guy and doesnt seem to be just a minivan tanny shop. ive had my tranny looked at by them previously when i got all my leaks fixed up (it completely leaked all over my friveway when i came bak from a 3 week vacation) and they did a god job and were professional also
imma get thier "aamco shift kit" for an extra 150 installed since this also will be under warranty
anyone done this mod and do u guys have any good or bad experiences with aamco?

my rebuild was cool... but expensive!

master rebuild kit: 245
pump for trans: 125
shell: 35
405$ for parts + tax

labor: 9hours @ 65$/hour 585 for labor

Aamco does not build the trans. Techs do. There is good and bad everywhere you go. Trust your judgement.

Please forgive me if anyone on this thread works at AAMCO but, I have found in Upstate NY that they are only in the job for the money. They wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a M22 Rock Crusher and a 700r4 if their job depended on it. When I had a N2O tranny meltdown, they were talking almost $1800 for a rebuild not to include parts. I tried to explain to them nicely that I could go to TCI and get a Brand New Heavy Duty for $1100 built for N2O with convertor. I personally like the B&M shift Kits. Never knew AAMCO had one.

i called the other place in town..cottman..and they didnt even ask what year my camaro was, what engine or if it was manual or not..just strait up told me 2200 for a rebuild...skip
i seriously think they are not crook guys at my aamco....ive been to the crook places before and there all pretty much the same..def dont have this vibe about this place
plus there are some pretty damn nice lookin 2nd gen camaros outside of that place all the time

For $2200, you can get a Probuilt Automatics trans, and you'd NEVER have to worry about your trans again Even their base level trans is going to be better than a local rebuild. I have never heard anything good about AAMCO.

They would not be my first choice tor a trammission repair. I think the owners of these shops have to take a course at AAMCO U called "HOW TO MAkE & CHEAT THE CUSTOMER OUT OF THE MOST MONEY 101".
