Rear pros auburn prob w/pic help!!!

Ok so after blowing up a nine bolt i bought this rear off a guy on the board, its an auburn posi with richmond 3-73s the pattern i ran on the gears looks good and seems to have decent backlash nothing is grinding or binding, but after closer inspection i found the side cones/clutch pack housings in there appear to have small chips off them on the outer edge,on the pass side the right side when looking at the rear it appears to have a ground out ring around it? the red circles are the areas i am talking about, when trying to turn the axles by hand it seems to be fairly difficult to rotate but is smooth and not binding, and posi is working fine, this setup supposodly had less then 500 miles on it,the rear also had an aftermarket rear end cover with adjustable braces for the caps. please any info questions, anything would be helpfull? thanks chris[IMG][/IMG]

think i'd check the back lash, pinion depth, and pinion preload just to know for sure if it's good or not. not sure i'd worry about the chips or not, hard to say without seeing them. is there anything in the oil?

well if the backlash or pattern was off it would be really torn up, i ran a pattern on it,the loacation of the chips is what gets me i dont see how anything could hit it everything else looks absolutelly perfect, the only thing i can could possibly think is somehow one the the spider gear teeth hit it,or if auburn assembed it wrong from the factory, i was just wondering if anyone has any similiar or seen problems like this.
