Shift Kit?
Howdy all.
I have been thinking of putting a street/strip shift kit in my 700R4 transmission. It has appx 110,000 miles on it, and as far as I know has no issues. It shifts solid in and out of all gears automatically or manually. I was wondering if adding the shiftkit to get firmer more responsive shifts will add to the wear and tear of the transmission or not.
I don't really have the cash to pony up for a full rebuild, hence not wanting to do any modifications that may make it only last a few months after the kit is installed.
Any and all opinions welcomed, thanks in advance for any advice.

Do a search. You'll find more info that way than what anyone will post as this has been discussed many times over.
- Stay away from the B&M crap. It works, but it's not the proper way to do it, and it can/will shorten the life of the trans. Look into either Superior or Transgo shift improver kits.
- A properly done/designed shift kit will help the life of the trans by lowering clutch slippage between gears. Proper meaning firm/quick at lower throttle positions, instant at WOT, but no "bang shifts". The kits that give you the tire squeal/"bang shifts" all the time are the kits that slowly eat away at trans internals and shorten the life of the trans.....

Thanks for the input Shagwell.
I had done some searching on the subject, I found alot of how to's but didn't run across much advice really. I will search some more trying some creative wording, but you told me pretty much what I was hoping to hear.
