Understanding Flash and Stalls

Ok so I've heard alot of people talk about a flash stall or stalling their car. I understand about the stall part, bringing the rpm's up to a certain number and holding it there until you launch the car. What does flash mean? How does this work? I'll be getting a 2800 stall converter for my trans soon. Would I be able to hold the rpm's to 2800 or would I just hold it to say 2400?

Stall is what it does when u hold it on the brakes

Flash is what it will jump to from a dead stop and a WOT stab on the gas.

Easiest way to explain it.

The only way to find your true "stall" speed is to transbrake it and see what it does.
