? for anyone with experience with a centerforce dual friction clutch

Instead of retyping everything I am just posting the email I sent the guy I purchased it from.
Upon inspection of the new clutch, before I use it, I have a question for you. I noticed when I pulled it from the box that the disc does not sit flat on the pressure plate. The disc has a convex shape to it (it lays flat in the center and bows away from the pressure plate as you move out further) as you can see in the first picture. When pressure is applied to the edge then it contacts the pressure plate as you can see in figure 2. However with the shape of the disc it, (fugure 3) it's center contacts the throughout bearing on the pressure plate. This won't be a big deal if the pressure plate never releases that far but I think the design of any clutch is to completely disengage anytime the clutch pedal is fully released. I am worried that the clutch will hang up because of this and also make noise when fully released (due to the center of the disc contacting the throughout bearing). The packaging didn't look damaged so I was wondering if, when you got it, if it had gotten damaged by something landing on the center of the disc and bending/warping the disc? I don't know if you have previous experience with centerforce DF clutches and is this normal. Every clutch I have every put in sat flat over the entire surface area, which only makes sense so it doesn't hang up or wear one section before the rest. Just wanted to check with you because it doesn't seem right. I'll ask on TGO if others have had this experience. Thanks much and look forward to hearing from you.

pics of contact points

Yes these pics are with the correct side facing the flywheel.

Thanks

It's really hard to tell much from those pics, they're kind of blurry.
But you're right, it need to be basically perfectly flat. If it's not, it'll be REAL HARD to move the clutch far enough to release the disc.

Does it have any kind of marks anywhere, where maybe somebody had it misaligned and "drew" a transmission into it with the bolts; or put it together backwards and the flywheel bolts punched the hub out? Which side is the center offset towards; flywheel side or clutch side?

It is offset towards the clutch (pressure plate side). The only marks I can see are where the bolts contacted the pressure plate when installed. It definately was never run because there are no marks on the pressure plate friction surface.

Definitely sounds like it's damaged, but by something other than incorrect installation (either of which of the common scenarios, would warp it the opposite way). I can't say much more about it than that.

Yeah I agree. I hope the guy will give me my $ back in exchange for return of the clutch. Thanks much.
