The little narrow rims on a wide rear look SUPER stupid. The angles in the pics in that post up there, don't do it proper justice.

Imagine pulling up behind a car, and seeing a car with narrow stock base-model wheels (not even some kind of the better stock wheels) sticking out past the fender wells. What would you think? I think, "poser" when I see that.

REALL REALLY WIDE wheels stuck out past the fender wells, at least looks sort of like a race car or something. Narrow wheels like that, looks like a Suzuki Samurai with rear-wheel-drive wheels on it. That r¡cer "skateboard" type of effect.

I'd strongly suggest not doing that.

What does work PERFECT, though, and looks EXACTLY RIGHT, is to put a 4th gen rear in one of these cars, and stock (or stock dimensions) 4th gen wheels. The combo of the 4th gen rear and 4th gen wheels has just about the identical same width as 3rd gen wheels on a 3rd gen rear. To make that work completely right, all you need is a pair of spacers to go in the front. About 1½" or 1¾", depending on which wheels you use. Or if you use C5 or C6 wheels, 2" spacers up front. But you might also need some thin ones in the back too, to keep them from rubbing.

little narrow rims

Looks like hammered dog plop. Looks bad enough with the wider stock rims such as the 16x8 that came on the better cars; looks totally poser with the little bitty base-model wheels.

OK - IF the 15 inch wheels would fit over the disc brakes, what everyone is saying is that the 15 inch wheels are only 7 inches wide - skinny wheels stuck out farther in the wells wouldn't have a desireable look in their opinions. The 16 inch wheels are 8 inches wide - a better look in the wells since they are wider.

The IF part is with the disc brakes - earlier (1993-1997) rear discs might fit inside a 15 inch wheel, but I don't think the LS1 brakes (1997-2002) would fit at all.

ooohhhkayyy thanks camaro newbie for some reason i understand it better now you explained it to me,. perhaps its your ability to put things in laymans terms fer me lol.,.,one thing i did not think of camaro nnewbie is that my stock rims might not fit or straight up wont fit.,,.i never thought of that,.,...well at least over all my issues are minimal and easy to negotiate.. also i wonder if the 255';s in the back would look good with the swap then again there is the issue wiuth it fiting over the rotor,.,.

Were all 4th gens disc's? in back?

no, some v6 4th gen rears were drums.

My 15" t/a rims fit over the LT1 disc brakes. However, my 3rd gen wheels on my 4th gen rear look bad together. Especially since my tires are 245/65/15???? something right now. I'll be getting at least 17" 4th gen offset rims when the funds get better.
