9 or 10 bolt

I have two rearends a 1989 that was in my trans-am w/ 135k miles on it.
It's ten bolt posi. limit slip that has a 10.625 ring gear and the gear ratio 2.73 that gear ratio has to go.
I just got a nine bolt B/W, it has a gear ratio i can live with 3.27 but the rearend looks ok still not sure if it's a posi. or lsd and it needs backing plates rotors calipers.
Iam not sure which one to sink money into.
The 10 bolt, posi limit slip is a good rearend but the gear sucks.
The nine bolt ,don't know much the rearend other than 3.27 gear and needs parts
I would like your input .
Thanks

A will provide a ton of info. Bottom line is that parts for the 9-bolt will be difficult to locate (and as a consequence may be costly). A 10-bolt with a 10.625?

you must have the only 10.62 ring gear GM ever made in the 10 bolts, even the 12 bolts went that big. there's not alot of differance between limited slip and posi, other than the spelling. again a search would provide you with more info than you could keep up with
