Convertor question...
I had my 91 Z go from a 305 EFI to a 406 Carbed with a TH400.
The car was slow as **** with Cast iron SR torker(sp) heads. I did a head swap and went with Aluminum Brodix spec heads that my machinist worked.
The car definitly moves now but Leaving the car in drive and nailing it, inbetween shifts it falls on its face.
The place that put the motor etc in put a B&M 2200 convertor in it. I think that is the problem. It seems to be a crappy convertor and doesnt lock up like my other convertor in my other car.
Have any of you had experience with B&M convertors? This winter I want to get a 3200 but not sure who to go thru.

Try checking out the guys at Performance Torque Converters - Performance Torque Converters
They can make a custom converter for you. Quite a few guys at the track are running them. They are resonable in price and stand behind there product.

Maybe I'll just wait until winter and tear it apart and rebuild with components I know about.

You can dyno the car and that will tell you where your powerband is. Is it just shifting real smoth or does it hesitate inbetween shifts. It dosent sound like a torque converter prob to me. Although i am not realy that knowledgeable about tranys.

Before the head swap it shifted fine.
After the head swap it still shift like it is supposed to, but when you nail on it once it is inbetween shifts, it looses power right before it hits the next gear.
For a example, it feel like a turbo car, it keeps putting you in the seat, until it shifts, then it shifts and starts to pull again. Its almost as the tranny isnt shifting fast enough.

Even if you gave it to me, and paid to put it in, you couldn't get me to run a B&M converter. You have enough engine that you should be running a quality 9.5" converter like the ones at EDGE Racing Converters
