what i mean is that i cannot downshift into first, nor start off the line in first and hold it there until i want to shift.

I normally shift at 7k rpm. but the tranny shop built this tranny a week ago, and havn't ben able to figure out what happened. what could they have forgotton todo?

if i have it in first from the line it seems to shift at around 3k rpm np matter the pedal position... like its still in the second gear position...

it also wont downshift, when cruising, my power band starts after 4500rpm, and well.... when i crusing in 2nd, i need to be able to throw it into first, it wont let me.


what cold be wrong?

 

your TV detent cable?kick down cable, stretched maybe?I had to reset mine before after my shifter location got all screwed up.also a while back noticed that some bolts had vibrated loose near the shifter linkage under car.Just a few ideas to look into.

 

tv cable/valve or improper governor....
a couple other possibilities, but that's what I'd check first.

 

alright i'm not sure you guys are understanding...

the tranny will not hold first gear manually.... when in the first gear position it will shift to 2nd no later then 2500rpm...

when i want to downshift into first manually, it will no go, will only go as low as 2nd gear.

In D or OD it will hold first fine, but only hold it till 5k when it shift, way too early for my motor...

and its a 700r4 if i didn't state this previously...

 

the shop may have damaged the shift cable when removing or installing it then replaced it with an aftermarket one. the aftermarket ones i have used(i.e. autozone)will not allow you to shift into 1st. i would ask them about it.
