Help with Pinion Rotating Torque

Well....I did most everything right with the pinion seal install, but I overran the nut down. I have read a bit about how to fix this and I'd rather try to DIY it before my mechanic clears out his shop for me.

I've read that with a used bearing, I need between 10-19 inch pounds of rotating torque on the pinion without the ring gear installed. I'm not planning on taking my stuff apart, so can someone tell me what that spec should be with the ring gear installed. Should I remove the wheels and brake drum too? Do I need to remove axles? I want to remove as little as possible and get as correct a measurement as I can.

Thanks..
Eric

you should of checked befoer you replaced parts. it's also very very foolish to back off the nut and the sleeve. if you went too far i'd swap in a new sleeve, and a new nut since they're one use too.

Would that mean disassembling the whole gear setup? Or can I just replace the crush? Yes I am new to this but I'd like to figure this all out so I don't so this again.

you'd need to pull the carrier and remove the pinion. i'd use a solid spacer instead of the sleeve.
