Not shifting like it should...only when accelerating hard
My '88 GTA has been shifting weirdly the past month or so. It only does this when i floor it... When i put the pedal to the floor, my rpms get up to like 6000 and the car doesnt shift over. To make it shift over, I have to let off the accelerator for a second and then push again. Then the car will pop over to the next gear. What my very un-educated guess is... that the engine is not getting the amount of fuel that it should be, and there is some sensor that doesnt think that there is enough fuel for the car to switch gears and go faster. The reason that this is apart of my guess is that around the same time that i noticed this problem my car started to have trouble starting. Now i have to turn the key to the 'on' position twice, and let the fuel pump sound fully twice, before actually starting the car, otherwise the car takes a while(7 seconds) to start. Again... it only does this when i accelerate hard and the tranny still shifts nice and crisp when during normal driving. What do yall think?
