9 bolt rear leaks
I cant stop my 9 bolt from leaking out of the differential cover gasket its a new gasket with new fluid and all the bolts are tighten down to spec the only way i can slow the leaking is to put sillicone around it any ideas on what this could be?

Ummm... you didn't use enough silicone?
Are you trying to say that you ACTUALLY paid money for a GASKET?
Seriously, don't use a gasket; just use the tubular solution. The piece of paper doesn't add anything useful to the system.

If you use "the right stuff" rtv made by Permatex, it comes in a pressurized can just like cheese spread, which makes it really easy to lay down a nice 1/4" bead all the way around the cover sealing surface. I quit buying the stupid gaskets ages ago. Just make sure to clean off the sealing surface on both the cover and the axle housing with some brake parts cleaner before applying the silicone to the lip on the cover. The other problem I've seen with nine bolt rears is the stupid rubber fill plug leaking. My buddy's nine bolt was doing this and we just took the plug out, cleaned it up, and put a little silicone around it and re-installed it. Thread
