Will this posi unit work?

I have a 92 camaro RS 5.0L with an open 2.73 stock 10 bolt rear end. I have a chance to pick up a stock gm posi and 3.73 gears from a 95 camaro Z28 with a 10 bolt that are for a 28 spline axle for $50.

From my research, I know that in my RS, I have a series 2 carrier in there now and I think I have 28 spline axles (they are whatever is stock for this car.) This unit should fit if it is the posi chunk and the gears to go with it right?

I think it should, but i just want someone to reassure me.

If the posi unit from the '95 is a 3 series unit, all you have to do is make sure the axels in your '92 are 28 spline and you are home free

Did 95 Z28's come with series 2 carriers? If so, how would I verify that it is a series 3? Is there a number stamped on the unit somewhere?

The reason I ask is because the unit is no longer in the vehicle. Its on his workbench.

And stock axles in a 92 RS should be 28 spline right?

A factory 95 Z should have a 3 series carrier. Your 92 RS F Body if stock will have 28 spline axles but a 2 series carrier. The 3 series carrier from a 95 will work in a 92 housing.
