8 speed 700r4/4l60e
Has this been talked about on here? They are basically 700r4's with overdrive or underive gears for each gear which equals 8 speeds. I'm looking into because I was considering getting a t56 because i could have low rpms with high gears on the highway.
Gear Vendors under/overdrive auxiliary transmissions Hot Rods, GM 4-Speed Automatic Performance Car/Street Rod/Sport Truck.
Edit: it looks like something you add to the tranny. Looks like it might not be worth it, $2500.

I dont think it would be worth the money...
Yes, it bolts in place of the tailshaft. Aftermarket torque arm mounts would be needed. That is assuming the unit actually fits under the tunnel!

custom driveshaft required, custom tq arm & mount required(no aftermarket unit will clear), and they won't fit inside our trans tunnel without some decent modification. Plus additional weight to an already heavy trans.....

Yea, great idea, but i'm not sure how fast or slow it would shift. I guarantee half the people would say too slow, and half would say too fast, no matter what.
Also, main point is the price. The instant you see that, you forget about why you would possibly want that many gears, and lose interest. Probably why nobody on here has one.
