Is a 2800 stall for a 305 tpi car to much? What would be my driveability side affects? I am running a 3.73 gear and shift kit already with headers, custom exhaust with no cats, and all the misc. bolts ons. I am also running a 150 shot of nitro.

I am about out of items to install on the car without changing the motor. so the stall convertor is the last thing I can do to see how fast this 305 will go.

Anybody on hear running a 2800 stall with a 305 motor?

I was using a 2500 stall with my application.
Mods are in the sig.
No ill effects from the stall
I got a tranny cooler.

What particular stall did you go with? You have a similar setup to mine. Did you like it and did think it actually made a difference. I would appreciate your input since we have a pretty close combo. Also, what tranny cooler did you use did you have to cut the trans lines to install it.

Thanks,

I got a stall from a friend that runs a tranny shop. It didn't have a brand name.

I liked the stall and it helped for sure. Best 60ft was a 1.82. Make sure that you beef up the suspension to compliment the higher stall(LCA, LCARB,)

I used a external tranny cooler along with the cooler in the rad.
I routed the fluid in the rad 1st, then to the external cooler and then back to the tranny.

2800 would deffinitely be a bit much for a stock cam. 2500 would be plenty. Either is very driveable IF you get a decent brand. The cheapies won't last under any conditions.

- I'll assume you're spraying a 150 shot of nitrous, not nitro. Two very different things........

Thanks guys, I am spraying nitrous, not nitro. I was looking at Precision Industries stall. But based on some of our feedback I think I am going to go with a 2500 instead of a 2800.
