wont shift out of first at wot

Engine: 305... LS1 waiting to drop in
Transmission: 700-R4... soon 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.08 posi nine bolt
wont shift out of first at wot
91 z28 auto wont shift out of first at wot. have to let off for it to shift. also seems like it shifts too hard 1-2 at partial throttle. what trans is in this car? I know it has a shift kit but not sure what kind.

Well the govoner controls WOT shift points. But id just assume if it has a kit the thing has been beat on. Might just be time for a rebuild. To many hard miles and not enough care.

Pull the governor and inspect the gear. Replace it if it is chewed up. Also check to see that the valve inside the gov works smoothly.
