need torque converter help

Hey i need some help i have a 87 iroc-z/700r4 tranny and a 350 smallblock mildly modded,am looking to purchase a high performance converter for my transmission,i want to get a few opinions, if the tci streetfighter will work out fine? it has 3000 stall,am looking for a converter that will give me a huge noticable performance launch off the line and better bottom end,my rear end is a 3:27 all high perofmance gears everything is brand new in the rear and am also gonna put a b&m shift kit when i decide on the torque converter,my car has headers, race wires, ported intake, ported plenum,3 inch magnaflow exhaust,3 inch y pipe,k&n's,really mild cam for now not a high lift cam smooth idle, but will be swapped shortly after the transmission work, help would be greatly appreciated thanks alot

If you're planning on a cam swap, better match it to the converter or visa versa.

The first thing I'll advise you to do is ditch the idea of a B&M shift kit and use a Transgo kit instead. The B&M kits suck for 700r4's. The Transgo kit is vastly preferred by most people that are knowledgeable about 700r4's. As far as a converter goes, you'd probably have better luck with a Hughes, Midwest, Continental, etc. Or if you can afford it, a Vigilante, Yank, or Edge are even better choices. I've heard a lot of mediocre responses about the TCI converters in a 700r4, and B&M converters are even worse. Like Wade said, you really need to match your stall speed to the cam you're running. You'd have to be running a pretty radical cam to need a 3000 stall. The most common stall speeds are usually somewhere around 2000-2600. It's also damn expensive to get a 3000 stall converter that still retains the lockup feature, which you need for your overdrive to work properly. Do some searches on the board here and you'll find tons of posts from other members saying what type of stuff they're running.

Yeah, I've been eyeballing your post for the last week or so. That's a sweet deal on a good converter. If I needed one right now, I'd have already bought yours!
