Trans cooler question

Anyone ever used there air conditioning evaporator (I think thats what its called) for a trans cooler..I did this on one of my other third gens, and it seemed to work well..It is large, and its free, and its already there...Are there any draw backs to this, Thanks for any answers....Tom

Lots of people have done it. It's been a cheap cure for over heated transmissions in larger trucks for years. The only draw back is it may over cool the fluid and yes that is possible.

I have used a heatercore once to get me by when my tranny cooler blew up. Those things are cheap as hell.

Well, thanks for the replys, I was really getting worried that I was the only one who had done this.......On my 84, if kicked ***..(Built Tranny)...I thought it was a really good idea, but the I wondered about flow rate, and what have you....And yes, I could get a bought one, but this thing is huge, and free.....Thanks guys, Tom
