stall speed

With the camshaft I picked out i should have a 3000 stall, Im on a budget and spending $400 on a stall sucks. I want a manual transmision, but i cant afford it right now, especially because my transmision was recently rebuilt(last year) and has less then 200 miles on the rebuild(probably more like 50 miles). How much performance loss will I loose if I get a 2400 stall instead of 3000? could I add gear to make up for the loss?

if you cannot afford to do it right the first time... can you afford to do it again later?
