Decode rearend 5 PM C 1 8 1 2
I pulled this rearend out of the 83 T/A I am parting out. It has rear disk brakes and a 5-speed. I am hoping this is a 3.73 posi.
I can spin the yoke and both wheels want to spin the same direction but all of the sudden the passenger side doesn't spin. If you grab a hold of the drivers side the passenger side spins then.
Is this the sign of a worn out positraction????
I can spin the yoke almost 2 full turns before the axle turns 1 full turn. I can't tell what axle ratio it has by that so I guess I might be pulling the cover to see what it has in it.

That's the best way to determine what you have. Here's how to determine what ratio the rear is (numbers are stamped on the ring and pinion):
41 : 15 = 2.73
40 : 13 = 3.08
42 : 13 = 3.23
41 : 12 = 3.42
41 : 11 = 3.73

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Those "codes", like all other of those, clearly mean that if you want to know what's inside, you need to have to take off the cover and look.
