noted when taking off hard. accellerates then seems like rpms keep going up but not accelerating about past 3000 rpms then will jump/kick when shifts into second. have tried adjusting cable. also maybe this is related. when cold weather sometimes when starting there will be a knocking sound back of the engine for about 30 sec. in park. thought it was main bearings but just had engine rebuilt and old bearings werre fine, new ones put in. could it be torque converter?

It sounds like the clutches are slipping.
