transmission that will handle power

wondering what would be a good choice for an auto trans that will be farily easy to put in my 88TA. Has to be handle quite a bit of power. I KNOW my T-5 wont last more than a minute or two once i get the new engien put in, and a friend of mine keeps saying he wants my engine/tranny setup i currently have for his camaro. I know NOTHING about auto trans AT ALL!!! i have switch a few cars form auto to manual, but never from manual to auto. only trans ive heard much about at all is a TH400, any good?

in case you've seen any of my other posts, my build has taken a bit of a turn, i guess my girlfriend really like my TA so instead of making it a tin can, i will be pretty much doing the opposite, redoing the entire interior, fiberglass door panels, black everything. yadda yadda

I ran a T-5 for 3 years behind a 12 second LT4 with a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch doing 3k+ rpm clutch dumps. so before you go on about KNOWING it won't last, give us some specs on the engine you plan to install and that will help give you a reccommendation. I HIGHLY doubt you'll need a TH400.

You could run a th350 for 500hp + if you build it right, and you can get them built pretty dam cheap.

Thiers a guy around here who will build it to handle 500hp, for $400

Well first of all, i would opt for the vortecs(ported of course) and a built th400 for your application, and by the way, select a blower cam for your application also, they will have on to fit your requirements.

Mike's Transmission. The TH400 I'm running came from a car that had a blown BBC putting out around 1000 hp. It was built by these guys.

turbomustangs.com

read it and read it and read it

you know a blow thru 750 type carb is good for 1100 hp right? Furthermore, check that site out and realize that cam is a poor choice for a blower, get a split duration for your heads. a twin turbo 383 is a nice choice, but it seems like you need to research it a bit more before proceeding, if you have the cash for twin turbo and a T56 then run aluminum heads and good luck.

450ish hp. do a G-Force upgrade and its "rated" to 900hp and 900 ft-lbs

and I take back what I said in my first post, TH400 with a manual valve body would get you your "manual" transmission if you wanted to go that route, or check into the G-Force kit. its not cheap, but worth it if you want to keep a manual trans.
