O.K.I`ve had my car about 3.5 years,one of them it barely moved building and installing the engine thats in my sig.I`m worried bout my trans now with this new engine.So far so good with around 2000 miles on it.I`ve never serviced the trans and i have no idea how many miles are on it.I was told it had a stage one trans go shift kit init and it does shift like it does,fairly firm and crisp at 3/4 and wot and with new engine hits 2nd really hard chirping and or spinning at wot.Anyway if i go to stage 2 transgo and trans cooler and fluid/filter change do i run a risk of it giving me trouble.I`ve had friends whos trans were suspect and they changed the fluid filter and the trans never shifted again.Mine seems fine but for a mostly stock 700r4 on a 300 hp plus engine probably wont last long either im afraid.So do i go ahead and service the trans or what.I thinknit should be fine I just wanted tosee what some of yall thought.Thanks.
As long as you make sure to get the old filter o-ring off with the old filter, or dig it out of the pickup hole if it comes off, and you make sure to push the new filter in until it's fully seated, I'd say go ahead and do it. That's the most common mistake people make when they service one. It never hurts to service your trans. I've serviced mine about every 50,000 miles, and it's still going strong with over 230k on it.
