Rear end help...I searched!

I searched, and now I'm really confused!

I've got an '87 T/A with the stock rear and 2.high ratio. It sucks.
I've got a rear from a '99 V6 Bird, and I'd like to regear it 3.73 and install it in my '87. Will I have to replace the carrier (or use a thick gear set if they make them?) when I regear it from the 2 series to 3 series?

Thanks!

if you find yourself needing a thicker ring gear for a gear swap consider using a spacer. that way the gear set will still work for it's intened application as well as yours. you'll be able to use a less specialized part and the spacer is fairly cheap.
