T-5 Rebuild Question...
Hey everyone,
This isnt exactly a rebuild question, but I figured anyone that has rebuilt a T-5 would know the answer. I took the rear housing off my T-5 to swap out the speedo gear. I am about to put everything back together and I realized that I didnt pay enough attension when disassembling it. The rubber seal that goes on the output shaft of the T5... Where does it go on the shaft & which way is it susposed to face? I know this is a dumb question, but I would rather ask & look dumb than put the car together and have trans fluid pour out the back of the tranny. I looked at this write up about speedo gear swaps by shifty & noticed that the seal is on the gear box side of the C-clip. However I am almost certian that I took the seal off before I took of the C-Clip.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

I've been going crazy trying to figure out if this seal is absolutely necessary. I had to switch main cases with my t5 a few months ago, and when I took it apart there was no such seal on the output shaft, even the used one I bought didn't have one. Right now it's in the car, the seal isn't on it, and there's no leak, i'm wondering if I should take it apart to put the seal on. Sorry for butting in, but I can't find my answer, but i'm sure most will say it's necessary, even though I put 30k on the car before without it.
